Today’s post comes to you as a result of a suggestion by my good friend Ross Brown to share what tunes are keeping me sane on my travels. Below you will find the main albums that I’ve been listening to since I left the UK, with a video of my favourite song from each.

James Vincent McMorrow – Early in the Morning

This album was introduced to me by a good friend that I made on Koh Lanta in Thailand and it probably represents the soundtrack to much of my time on the island. I loved the album so much so that I listened to it every single day and if I play it now, it immediately takes me back to that time.

If I had a boat

Ben Howard – Every Kingdom

This too was an album introduced to me by the same friend and will forever remind me of my time in Koh Lanta.

The Fear

Ed Sheeran – +

I became aware of Ed Sheeran because of a compilation a friend of mine made me before I left the UK. ‘A-Team’ was the song on the compilation and I bought the album because of it.

Drunk

Amy MacDonald – A Curious Thing

I’ve had this album for a few years and only rediscovered it recently in Ubud, Bali when it became the soundtrack to many a treadmill run.

Love Love

Blind Pilot – 3 Rounds and a Sound

I discovered this band completely by chance, when I noticed a link within a tweet to the song featured here, I clicked the link, watched the video and promptly bought the album.

3 Rounds and a Sound

Bombay Bicycle Club – A Different Kind of Fix

This was a very recent purchase and I’m still getting to know it, but so far I’m loving what I’ve heard.

Lights Out, Words Gone

Bon Iver – For Emma, Forever Ago

This is my latest find and I’ve only listened to it twice but I’m already hooked.

Skinny Love

Florence and the Machine – Ceremonials

This is the album I started to run again to after a three-year break due to injury. I found myself a lovely running route through rubber plantations and local villages in Thailand and cranked up the volume.

Shake it Out

Passenger –  All the little lights

This is probably my favourite album at the moment and I listen to it daily. I think the lyrics to every song are absolute genius.

Holes

What has been the soundtrack to your summer? I’m a bit of a music addict and I absolutely love to discover new bands and always appreciate a recommendation so please do leave a comment with any albums, bands or singers that you think I should check out.
