I’m guessing that if you found yourself reading this post you have a dream? A vision of a better life perhaps? A desire for a happier, more fulfilled and more abundant life?
Maybe that future life feels vastly different from the one you have now. So much so that you have a hard time mentally bridging that gap.
Would you like to know what the number one thing standing between you and your dream is?
I’ll give you a clue it’s not money (despite the fact that a LOT of people use this as their excuse).
It’s nothing to do with your talents, your abilities, how much stuff you know, how many books or blogs you’ve read, how many courses you’ve signed up for.
It’s none of these things.
The number one thing standing between you and your dreams is your deep-seated desire for certainty.
It is your desire to know that the direction in which you want to go will work out if you take the first step.
It is your desire to map out the route from here to there that makes the journey impossible to make.
Most of my clients come to me looking for a plan, a process to follow, a secret ingredient, a magic formula. Anything that will help them to get them to take the action that will see them on the way to achieving their dreams. It’s a perfectly human thing to do. We want to feel safe and secure, we don’t want to put ourselves in unnecessary danger or to take unnecessary risks.
The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown” ~ H.P. Lovecraft
But here’s the thing. Here is the paradox at play (and note: there is always a paradox at play).
Only a leap of faith will see us get where we want to go.

Let me tell you why a leap of faith is so necessary. Because we can never, and I repeat never, know how this is all going to work out.
So if, like most people, you’re spending a lot of time trying to work out the exact steps you need to take to get from point A (where you right now as you read this) to point B (your big, bold dream) then I hate to break it to you but you’re wasting your precious time.
The world doesn’t change in front of your eyes, it changes behind your back.” ~ Terry Hayes
So how might your time be better spent? I’m so glad you asked! Your time would be better spent taking action, and before you mind starts spinning out and asking itself, but which specific action should that be?? I don’t care. The Universe doesn’t care. Your sub-conscious mind doesn’t care. ANY action will do.
I repeat take any action that moves you one step closer to your dream. It could be an email, a phone call, a decision you’ve been meaning to make, a meeting with your boss. Whatever it is, if you sit in silence long enough, with a reflective and open heart, that one next step will be revealed to you. Truth is you already know what it is, you’re probably just to scared to take it. I get it. I’ve been there many times.
And then what?
Then after you’ve taken that action, you’re world will be different, you will be different and from that new place, as you sit with an open and reflective heart and ask yourself what do I really want? the next step will be revealed to you.
That’s how it works? There is no big secret to success, there is no magical process. It’s the simple act of taking the next step from wherever you are in this moment, adjusting to your new position and repeating that act.
If this sounds too simple, it’s because it really is that simple, but I get that this might sound basic, my mind only really wrapped itself around this recently, so for those of you whose mind is unwilling to accept anything as simple as taking just the one next step then I’ll give you three.
1. Embrace uncertainty (because the unknown is the only thing you can actually be certain of!)
2. Feel the fear and take the next step anyway (know that you are not your fear, accept the fact that fear will occur and take action regardless)
3. Repeat steps one and two until you’re happier than you’ve ever been.

When we spend all of our time and energy trying to be perfect, trying to have the perfect back-up plan, trying to keep one foot in this camp and another foot tentatively feeling it’s way forward, then the net result is that we never move. We never get there. Years pass by and we stay exactly where we are. Dreaming of a place somewhere out there in our future, a place we never made the steps to get to.
Only a leap of faith will see us get where we want to go. Indi knew it and so can you.
What would I get if I made a leap of faith?
